Minecraft has achieved such an absurd success that not even Mojang believes it has reached this incredible mark on YouTube.
Markus Persson created Minecraft more than ten years ago. When he first created a survival game that let us construct, explore, dig, and combat enemies in the most basic of ways, he had no clue what he would achieve a decade later.
YouTube, which had been around for years and accounted for over half of all videos available on the internet by 2011, already had a large number of individuals submitting game footage. Games like Call of Duty, Battlefield, Halo, and many more were popular on the platform, but things altered drastically after May 17, 2009.
A great mark in the history of video games and the internet
In 2009, the jwaap channel broadcast the first-ever Minecraft gameplay by a user who was not a member of the game’s development team. This video did not capture the attention of many users at the time, but it was the video that launched the avalanche of content that has arrived on YouTube in the previous decade, to the point where they have reached the amazing figure of 1 trillion views on the platform.
Yes, you read that correctly… 1,000,000,000,000 views.

The Mojang Studios team celebrated this great achievement with a new YouTube video, which they also published on Twitter, in which we can observe several Easter Eggs, such as secret mentions to popular videos, YouTubers, and more.
Furthermore, YouTube has established a unique page to commemorate this feat, where we can watch various sorts of videos relevant to Minecraft today.
