Streamers are getting exclusive early access to Expeditions: Rome.
Starting in the early morning of Friday, December 17 through Monday, December 20, a select group of streamers will get special preview access to the first act of Expeditions: Rome. The early access allows them to play the entire Greece campaign while using the new Expeditions: Rome Twitch extension.
“THQ Nordic partnered up with Muxy Inc. (developing the extension and managing Twitch integration) and Leviathan Core Inc. (securing streamers and content creators for this event weekend) to deliver the most ambitious, expansive Twitch extension to ever exist for any game. It will allow the streamer’s audience to interact with the game and their favorite streamer like never before,” the publisher says.
During Rome’s turn-based combat, audiences can direct AI targets, heal, or knock down both enemy and streamer combatants, re-name units with their TwitchID, set fire to the battlefield, and much much more. Streamers can ask for help or beg for mercy as the audience directly influences how challenging or easy each combat encounter can be at every step of the process.
Even outside of combat, the audience can interact heavily with their favorite streamer: vote about choices in dialogues, check the stats of the streamer’s party, read the quest log to get caught up on the current goals, even send care packages. There is so much possible interactivity, Expeditions: Rome will move the border between single-player and multi-player experience. People will not only be watching and chatting with their streamers, they will play together.

THQ Nordic says that they “hope to see a lot more for the timing around the release of the game so if you are a content creator and want to be on board, please apply for our extension campaign.” You can apply here.
Twitch Drops and persistent save games
During the event, THQ Nordic is running a special Twitch Drops campaign where viewers of these channels can unlock visual customization options for the game.
“For the first time ever, players who unlock these special visual drops will be able to use these drops both in the Demo, as well as the Full Game at launch,” the publisher says.
Players can download the free demo, experience the early moments of our story, and play with their earned drops right away. Players will also be able to migrate their demo save files to the full game at launch, keeping their story progress and choices.
Expeditions: Rome launches on PC on January 20, 2022 for $44.99.
