The Last of Us Remastered update opens the door for a new world record speedrun

The Last of Us Remastered

A new patch out now for The Last of Us Remastered dramatically decreases load times. That means that players can shave off crucial minutes during their speedruns.

YouTuber ElAnalistaDeBits demonstrates that the game’s load time decreases from over a minute and a half to just under 14 seconds.

That’s huge for speedrunners. Every second counts in pursuit of a world record. This patch likely means that the race is on for a new world record.

The current world record holder for an any percentage speedrun is Anthony Calabrese, known as @AnthonyCaliber. His world record is 22901s according to speedrun.com.

By the way, it’s worth noting that Anthony already completed the game using a solid state drive. So it’s unlikely that the update will improve his load times all that much if at all. Someone playing on a hard drive will benefit though.
